Iran great poet work adapted for Greece stage

Greece has adapted excerpts from epic poem Eskandar-nameh by Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi.

For the first time, Greece has adapted for the stage excerpts from epic work Eskandar-nameh (Book of Alexander) by 12th-century Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi.

The theatrical performance was acted at Benaki Museum of Islamic Art in Greece, a local media report said on Monday

.

The museum exhibit was presented by Mina Moraitou, the curator of the Islamic Art Department of the Benaki Museum.

Moraitou was quoted by media as saying that the event was organized with “the support of National Theater of Greece as a showcase of historical works through the media of theater.”.

The performance was acted by artists such as Andromachi Davlou and Stratis Panourgio.

The influence of Nizami’s work on the development of Persian literature has been enormous. His Eskamdar-nameh can be regarded as an epic interlaced with didactic observations.
